PC(USA) — What We Value

Short answers drawn from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Presbyterians are a Reformed, representative (elder-led) church seeking to serve Christ through communities of faith, hope, love, and witness. Our theology emphasizes God’s sovereignty and grace.

Scripture is our rule of faith and life. We also confess the faith using our Book of Confessions—historic statements like the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds that teach and unite us.

We celebrate two sacraments—Baptism and the Lord’s Supper—as signs of Christ’s real presence and God’s action, sealing us in grace and marking us for service.

Baptism is the sign and seal of God’s grace. It is celebrated in worship with promises from the church to nurture the baptized in faith—from infants to adults who profess faith in Christ.

Following Jesus, we engage public life with compassion and justice—addressing poverty, violence, creation care, and dignity for all—guided by positions adopted by the General Assembly.
